How do I check shifts have been assigned a Cost Centre?

Cost Centres are used to help keep track of expenditure. Hours are allocated to Cost Centres in order to see how much time and money is being spent on a particular department, project or process.

By turning on ‘Cost Centre Colours’ in the employee’s Timesheet, it is easy to see whether or not the worked shifts have been assigned to Cost Centres.

This guide will look at:

  • Turning on Cost Centre Colours
  • Assigning a Cost Centre to a shift

Turning on Cost Centre Colours

  1. Navigate to the required employee’s Timesheet.
  2. Select ‘Options’.
  3. Tick ‘Cost Centre Colours’ - the clockings will now be highlighted the colour of the Cost Centre that they have been assigned to.

The examples below show the difference between ‘Cost Centre Colours’ being off and on. Whether turned off or on, you can always see an hours breakdown, by Cost Centre, at the bottom of the Timesheet.

Assigning a Cost Centre to a shift

When you turn on ‘Cost Centre Colours’, each shift with an allocated Cost Centre will be highlighted in that Cost Centre’s colour. This should also make it easy to see all shifts that have no Cost Centre assigned.

  1. On the shift that has No Cost Centre, select the cell with the IN clocking.
  2. In the pop-up box, select the appropriate Cost Centre.
  3. Save.

The clockings will now be highlighted the colour of the assigned Cost Centre. ‘No Cost Centre’ will also have been replaced by the assigned Cost Centre in the breakdown at the bottom of the Timesheet.
